Jesus Christ, God’s Son, has everything in control. He holds the earth in place with its laws of gravity, properties, rotation, force… stuff you’d learn in a physics class. My son strikes up conversations about this, mostly from his interest in a really cool scientist who debunks the evolution theory a lot and who operates a dinosaur park in Alabama.
Romans 1:20 says that the divine qualities of God are plainly seen. Look at all the intricacies of plants and animals and at the scope of outer space. I once heard a man say: ‘No way could a God make all that is on the earth and in outer space. That’s way too much for only one being to do!’. Is he ever in for a rude awakening.
By His creation, we know God is vivid. Check out this passage in Revelation of vivid descriptions of Jesus:
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.
And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks
one like unto the Son of man,
clothed with a garment down to the foot,
and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
His head and his hairs were white like wool,
as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
And his feet like unto fine brass,
as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as
the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand
seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword: and his countenance was as
the sun shineth in his strength.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.
And he laid his right hand upon me,
saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and
the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead;
and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen;
and have the keys of hell and of death.
Revelation 1: 12-18
And Jesus holds the keys of death. I think in order to hold the keys of death, one must have conquered death and we know Jesus did. Jesus was raised from the dead three days after He willingly went to the cross for us. Satan will never be able to conquer death because it is already written by the Living God that Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever (Revelation 20:10).
How powerful is Jesus? We have a glimpse—extremely. It’s the kind of power like “Don’t mess with me, man!” It’s the kind of power you would fall dead-like to, like John did. I think glimpses are about all we can handle in our present form. There will be another form to take— of immortality and incorruption. First Corinthians 15 speaks of being raised immortal and incorruptible. The 13th chapter says someday we will see clearly. Maybe in new bodies, we will be able to handle seeing this kind of power.
When you pray in Jesus’ name, it means
something. Talk about a powerful friend! Lift praises and concerns to God our
Father in the power of the name of Jesus.
Here’s a
prayer request for you: please pray earnestly, like Elijah, and persistently,
like the widow who kept going back for justice and finally got it, that our
public schools would not teach evolution. Some students who are taught that we
evolved from apes, which the Bible never says, experience depression and
worthlessness. Some students say if we’re all evolved matter with no hope after
death, what’s the point of living? Is a loving Creator taught in the public
schools? I’m not happy that my tax dollars contribute to the evolution lie and
promote depression in young minds. Will you take it up with me to a higher
authority? God is able. This is not a new prayer request but let’s keep at it,
like that widow (Luke 18:1-8).
May
creation remind you of Christ’s authority and eternal love for you. May the trees
of the field, painted by the Painter of Eternity, help you proceed and go out
in JOY!
