PRAY FOR JUSTICE.
Do you desire justice?

Have you been a victim of injustice? Were you born a human? All of us are acquainted with injustice. Everyone I know has been trespassed against. At one time or another, someone has slapped us on the cheek, if not literally. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, says to turn the other cheek.

"You have heard that it was said,
'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'
But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person.
If someone strikes you on the right cheek,
turn to him the other also.
Matthew 5:38-39
It's difficult being the recipient of injustice. Are you good at resisting an evil person? Look how one of Jesus's followers in the olive grove responded to an impending injustice:

When Jesus' followers saw what was
going to happen, they said, "Lord,
should we strike with our swords?"
And one of them struck the servant
of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
But Jesus answered,
"No more of this!"
And he touched the man's ear and healed him.
Luke 22:49-51
Jesus willingly went to the cross and laid down His life for us. He has told us blessed are the peacemakers and that love covers a multitude of sins, which it does because He said so. We've heard the saying 'Two wrongs don't make a right.' But have some of us formed an opinion that God doesn't like justice? Have we forgotten that God is just? What can we do? If we cannot strike back, then what can we do? What is another thing Jesus has told us to do?

PRAY!

Prayer, the weapon of choice, is the sword to use. Look at the parable of the persistent widow in Luke chapter 18. Jesus was telling the disciples to keep praying and not give up, like the widow constantly returning to the judge for justice. He finally gave it to her! People outside of Sodom and Gomorrah were so upset with the sin from these wicked places that they cried out to God (Genesis 18:20-21). God heard them and destroyed the wicked people.

The LORD will perfect that which
concerneth me.
Psalm 138:8a (KJV)

What a powerful verse! What's in your heart? What bothers you? What concerns you?
Take your hurt, your injustice, the attack on you to God Almighty in prayer through Jesus' name. Plead like the people in the Bible who also dealt with injustices. Learn from them by how they responded to the sin of their day. Then, see what God will do for you. He will perfect it!

We are not helpless. We are actually very powerful, that is, if we exercise the privilege of prayer with faith like the centurion. We can lash back, sort of. Are you a fellow prayer warrior?

Be merciful to others and pray for justice today to our Heavenly Father who listens.
To others, especially loved ones, offer hope.
