HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." (Luke 4:16-21).

How cool is that? We weren't there but we get to read about it and are blessed for it. I trust you know we are blessed because of what God has made known to us!

With faith and prayer, I can face another year. I am very thankful for the past year and all that God has done for me in 2015. I look forward to what God will do in 2016. I was reading in 2 Corinthians 5:18, and surrounding verses, that we are given the ministry of reconciliation. May we make this a goal for 2016, and always.

Here are two other verses to consider for the brand new year:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17

And

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything;
what counts is a new creation.
Galatians 6:15

Can you think of other verses? Add them below, if you wish. I would be curious to see what you write.

As I write this first blog of the new year, I look out my window and see it's snowing. I'm glad, cause we have skis and snowshoes to sell in our shop. My husband and I run a bicycle and ski shop and we've been at it for 15 years now. With snow accumulating on the ground, people will be bringing in their skis and snowboards for sharpening and waxing and that's good for business.

May you have a great year! Thank God for new beginnings, second chances and His everlasting love.
