Truth is Like a Trillium

Truth is like a trillium
that blossoms in the spring.
It dances with the waking trees
and stirs the birds to sing.

Through winter, it lay dormant,
beneath the snowy ground.
Then with the warmth of springtime,
it sent its roots around.

It stretched within the sunshine,
first budding after years.
The plant designed by Trinity
took time to match its peers.

And there it stands a-shining—
a pure, revealing face!
The woodland floor, once bumpy bare,
now shimmers full of grace!

Truth is like a trillium.
O may my faith grow strong.
For with it, I am known and free
to live forever long.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32

TRUTH IS LIKE A TRILLIUM

It’s the season of trillium tranquility here in the woods!
Is there a better place to be at peace than among white trilliums?
I think not.

Now, I will be the first to admit that trilliums don’t smell like roses. But apart from that, I don’t notice anything lacking in these graceful plants growing in nitrogen-rich woodland soil here. The name ‘trillium’ was given to this plant because all of its parts exist in groups of three: three white petals, three sepals (small leaves), three large leaves and three stigmas. Trilliums are protected, taking many years to bloom for the first time.

And what a great representation of arrived-at truth!

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, makes a strong statement about Himself, doesn’t He? John 14:6 is either the truth handed to us on a royal silver platter or a big fat lie. How anyone responds to this statement determines, ultimately, their eternal placement.

Truth, which is not relative, enables us to live forever long in the realizations that:
Because Jesus is the way, there is no other way apart from Him;
Because Jesus is the truth, there are only lies apart from Him;
Because Jesus is the life, there is only death apart from Him.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive , because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14: 16-17

You shall know the truth and truth shall make you free. Not knowing truth, then, continues a condition of bondage. It may take a while to see the face of truth, like the trillium first blooming after years. But when it’s revealed to you (even in that day of Philippians 2: 10-11), you will fall to your knees.

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
Psalm 138:8

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

In the trillium patch of truth, tranquility and prayer, the words of the psalmist shine true in that the Creator will perfect my concerns and strengthen my heart. I think my time would be well-spent formulating a list of praises and concerns. I’m grateful to God in revealing to me truths and making me aware of His working in my life. The things I have committed to Him are being beautifully addressed in His time and I’m thankful very much. And then those things that bother me can be voiced. Disturbing events that have happened in the world, circumstances that cause hurt and on-going problems can all be raised in persistent prayer. Jesus taught not to give up on praying.

Personal Praises (at this writing)
Freedom to worship and pray in my country
An established national day of prayer
Church growth in faith, wisdom and Bible study
Days of peace
God’s great and precious promises
Family and friends

Personal Concerns (at this writing)
Opposition on Easter Sunday with bombings
Death of believers, grieving families
Church growth in Bible study where the Bible is studied directly
The tragic death of that little boy
The salvation of loved ones
Schools not to teach evolution

I’m sure you have your own list of praises and concerns. If not, why not? A biblical example of someone praying praises is Mary.

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call be blessed.
Luke 1: 45-48

And a biblical example of someone praying concerns is Jabez.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
1 Chronicles 4:10

May Mary and Jabez inspire you to be specific and create a list of praises and concerns.

Our National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 2, 2019.
Can you remember to pray on this designated day?

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

Peace that passes understanding is more than a feeling. It’s a strong, resolute faith in a faithful God. It’s confidence in God to provide, no matter the circumstances. Someone with this peace relies on God’s unbreakable promises. Someone with this peace trusts God is working for her good, even if pain is sent.

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Philippians 3:20-21

Faith in Jesus is faith in a magnificent worker, the same able worker who created Heaven and Earth and the trillium. And He works for our good!

May the graceful trillium reveal truth to you and settle you into peace.
