WOODLAND SONG

Joyfully, joyfully, the feathered friends call,
chickadees and grosbeaks and orioles all,
to sing a lyric melody at opening of day,
to start the winging choir, a-chirping all the way!

Over high, over there, beside the babbling brook,
cardinals and veeries resound in every nook;
the drumming of the ruffed grouse, the cooing of the dove,
the tapping of the woodpecker that echoes up above!

Yahweh God! Yahweh God!”, into the evening night,
hummingbirds and nuthatches turn in from their flight.
And in the final light of day, the robin sings her song.
What joy to hear the woodland birds sing praises all day long!

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Luke 1:46-47

WOODLAND SONG

Sing with the robin! And veeries are very glad in Veery Glade! These elusive thrushes have returned to the woods, where there are also robins, and we have heard new songs from new birds, which is a treat! Their songs lift our spirits and remind us to call on God together through prayer in Jesus’ name.

Like Mary did. She magnified the Lord and called on God her Savior. And she was humbly submissive.

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
Luke 1:48

Humbly submissive is the definition for the word ‘meek’. Some might think taking on a role of being submissive is not desirable. Our society often promotes being assertive with one’s own agenda, not in service to someone else’s. But the Bible tells us Jesus humbled Himself even to the point of death, obeying His Father.

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

What a beautiful thing to have a relationship with the King of kings!

Henceforth, I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things I have heard of my Father I have made known to you.
John 15:15

In friendship with Jesus, we walk, talk, and work on meekness by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Counselor, as He is also called, draws us in to be birds of a feather, flocking together. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are like Christ. We are also bondservants of Christ, preferring to please God over man. Choose friends carefully because the way of the wicked leads astray.

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
Proverbs 12:26

The five wise girls (who were most likely meek as well) in the parable of the ten virgins and who were prepared with oil didn’t give any of their oil to the five foolish girls who were not prepared. The foolish girls were kept out. Not all ten went in. There is a lesson here.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10

God is able to help anyone who calls on Him. The Creator has the power to re-create and make new. Befriend likeminded people.

We are not all children of God as some suppose. Some even in church think everyone is a child of God no matter what. The devil wants people to believe this lie. But if it were true, there would be no need for a Redeemer! There would be no need for Jesus! The Spirit of Truth teaches we need Jesus and friends of Christ speak Truth because they know it.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you into likeminded relationships. Be careful not to befriend someone like Korah. Korah made a stand against Moses (which is really a stand against God) and ended up taking his friends into the ground with him. Read this amazing account in the book of Numbers, chapter 16.

And, as birds go together, Christians should be careful what they allow in the House of God. We should agree anything not advocating a closer relationship with Christ is on shaky ground. Allowing craft fairs inside the church, secular music, shows and events having nothing to do with worshipping the Lord are areas to step away from. Do we want Jesus to come back and find us in church selling our wares? Are we comfortable with that?

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16

Pray for discernment and meekness. We recognize people by their words and actions like a good tree that produces good fruit. A seed sown by the farmer will benefit him when the seed produces a crop. Nobody wants to take the time of sowing a seed to get nothing from it.

Pray for great relationships with each other in church. Church is a hospital for sinners, not a showcase for saints. Faith like a mustard seed is still better than no faith at all.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever.
Psalm 22:26

Pray for a humbly, submissive heart to persevere because of friendship with Jesus. With the robin, voice praises and concerns to Him who offers perfect relationship status and meekness.
